Read what some patients say about their experience with spinal decompression
and the Virginia Back Institute…
Listen
to what John Basarab says…
“Like all clergy,
I stand for long periods.
It was painful to sit and stand
even for short periods of time…”
Now I can play golf again…
“Before I came to the Virginia Back Institute I was finding myself
having to make life decisions that I wasn’t wanting or willing to
make. I am an avid golfer, but I was absolutely unable to play.
I am used to walking 18 holes two to three times a week, but the
pain had gotten so bad, that even riding a cart was too painful.
When I had to stand up for any amount of time, it felt as if my
back was going to break. My doctors had me on every medication imaginable
and now they were talking about surgery. I have a co-worker who
had back surgery and they say they have been in constant pain ever
since. Nothing seemed to help and I was feeling like I was running
out of options.
Since starting decompression I have noticed complete relief with
the pain in my legs. The sharp, debilitating pain in my low back
has all but gone away. I have occasional soreness, but my strength
has gotten to the point that after a few short exercises, I can
now play a full round of golf—pain free!”

Listen to what Marco Carranzo says…
“I had lost my ability to walk.
I had lost my ability to sit down.
The only time I wasn’t in pain
was when I was lying down…”
Hurt so much, I couldn’t play with my kids…
“The only way I could even get through the day was to take an unbelievable
amount of medications. I felt like I was always in pain. Nothing
I did felt good and everything felt very bad. The worse part was
I was unable to play with my children without being in tremendous
pain.
I was scheduled for lumbar disc surgery. I had done some research
and saw something on spinal decompression. I was in tremendous pain,
but I was so afraid of surgery. I figured I had tried everything
else, but if this could prevent me from needing an operation, it
would be worth it.
Since starting decompression, my range of motion has improved tremendously.
I have almost stopped taking drugs and I am back to enjoying my
life again. I wake up and actually feel like I am using someone
else’s back. It has been so long since I felt like this that I actually
couldn’t remember what is was like to feel good. The best part is
I no longer have to explain to my children ‘what is wrong with mommy.’
I can’t begin to describe how much batter I feel and good it is
to feel like this.”
Janet Wellstone
Listen to what Caris Erickson says…
“At first I was apprehensive
about spinal decompression,
but once the back pain started
interfering with my work,
I was desperate to try something…”
After each treatment, I felt better and better…
“My life as I knew it was gone. I had been to emergency rooms three
times. I had epidural shots about twelve times. I had the craziest
burning sensation through my leg and foot. I had been to an orthopedist
and a neurosurgeon with no relief—not to mention physical therapy
twice…
Before coming to the Virginia Back Institute I was unable to walk,
sit, take a shower or bath. Could no longer drive or stand up for
long…not to mention I could not work and have been unable to work
since March.
Since starting decompression I’ve noticed the pain starting to
decrease and the burning sensation has gone, and as the treatment
went on the better I was feeling.
I have my life back! To be able to take showers and baths again
and to be able to cook or fix a sandwich again is just a blessing.
I am driving again. I am just so thankful.
After my first five treatments I had noticed a big difference.
If you suffer like two years with three bulging discs and tightness
from the hip down to the foot or anything close to that, relief
is in sight. All I know is my prayers have been answered. Thank
you Dr. Booker and your staff!”

Listen to what Jennifer Ross says…
“Before seeing them, I had gone
to numerous doctors, neurologists,
chiropractors, physical therapy,
acupuncture, massages…
I was very hesitant. I didn’t think
it was going to work--and it has.”
Thought I’d be in pain the rest of my life…
“Before I came to the Virginia back Institute I thought the activities
that I regarded as normal were gone forever. That I was going to
be in pain for the next forty years of my life. And that I was going
to be disabled at age forty-three.
I was unable to move without pain in my lower back. I couldn’t
plan any activity for fear of my pain getting worse. I couldn’t
run the eight miles I ran regularly for the past year. Or perform
the simple tasks around the house such as vacuuming, emptying the
dehumidifier, carrying the laundry basket, or making the bed.
Now, my happiness and joy have reappeared. I am not constantly
ruled by my pain. My personality, which is usually very up, has
come back. And I can perform housework and my sleep is uninterrupted.”
Anne Parker
Listen to what Ellen Passel says…
“I’ve had lots of sports injuries…
but this one was different…walking was
difficult, sitting was excruciating,
climbing stairs was such a nightmare
that once I’d get up to the main floor…I stayed.”
